There are different locations of the world that observe Eastern Standard Time. These changes are the same in Canada and the United States of America. This also reflected that 2.00 AM EDT would become 1:00 AM EDT in November first Sunday. This means that there were some changes in timing and 2:00 AM EST would become 3:00 AM EDT in March the second Sunday. In 1987, there were amendments of the EDT to the first Sunday of April of that year.įurthermore, there were some other changes instituted by Energy Policy Act in 2005 that saw an extension in the daylight saving and this began to take effect from 2007. This meant that EST would again be observed on October, the last Sunday. In addition, the act of Uniform Time led to an institution of EDT to the last Sunday in April across the United States with effect from 1966. However, some southern parts that include Panama and Caribbean territory do not take into consideration the daylight saving time. U.S.Conversely, on the first Sunday of the month of November when it is 2:00 AM EDT, clocks are usually moved back by one hour to 1:00 AM. He added: "This logical step to help reduce costs is just one avenue in which the Scottish FA will look to support clubs throughout this challenging period and we welcome further discussion on ways to help alleviate the increase in costs."Ĭlubs in the first round of the Scottish Cup have also been told they can stream any non-televised tie, so long as it kicks off before the long-established blackout period of 14:45-17:15 on Saturdays. Scottish FA chief executive Ian Maxwell said the association is "committed to exploring methods that could help mitigate the effects of the crisis within Scottish football". Rescheduling matches so they finish before it gets dark would alleviate the issue and the league would be minded to move the kick-off time of a fixture if both clubs agreed. With the price of gas and electricity rocketing - and commercial bills not limited by a cap - there is growing concern about the cost of staging games in the autumn and winter, given the need for more lighting in particular. The SPFL would be open to any requests to move league games, too. It is unclear whether that status will continue later in the competition. The core reason I’m unimpressed is because Gloomhaven brings together two mechanisms that didn’t need to be brought together. To be honest, I don’t want to be THAT guy, just unimpressed with Gloomhaven for the sake of age, curmudgeonliness, or standee-rage. At that point, Gloomhaven becomes not just a game, but a lifestyle, and one that we were unwilling to commit to. I backed Gloomhaven the second go-around on Kickstarter, but was put off by the size of the game in terms of the time duration, which is at least a year, according to most reports online. In the end, Gloomhaven is a good game, but there are just other dungeon crawlers I’d rather play. As opening boxes is one of the main appeals of a legacy game for me, I felt like I was waiting forever to do that in the game. The biggest miss was probably how long it took to retire your character and unlock a new one. While I loved the thematic elements of the overland and city encounters, many times the battles turned into a giant slog and took way too long. Yet as our campaign marched on, the game seemed to lose a lot of its shine for me. That being said, I was really excited to play Gloomhaven and enjoyed our early sessions. You could literally play this for 200 hours or more. Gloomhaven was an ambitious project from Cephalofair Games and I have to hand it to them just for the sheer scope of the game. There is a wealth of content in Gloomhaven and you can expect to put in 100+ hours if you intend to finish everything. The main part of the game is handled in a dice-less dungeon crawl that uses cards for combat abilities and also as a randomizer. The goal of the game, other than to beat the scenarios and advance the overall campaign, is to get your character to finish their personal quest, thus retiring them and unlocking new characters for you to play next. Gloomhaven is a legacy style, dungeon crawler board game that will have you controlling a fantasy character throughout their career. You may have heard about this behemoth of a game, because it not only costs $120, but it provides hours upon hours of dungeon crawling adventures. This time around, the BGQ staff went with a somewhat newer game in Gloomhaven. In our first installment of Quick Hits from the Vault, we tackled the classic card drafting game 7 Wonders. Published by Thomas Telford Publishing, Thomas Telford Ltd, 1 Heron Quay, London E14 4JD. Widespan Roof Structures Compiled by Michael Barnes and Michael Dickson University of Bath A hundred years went by before the Aeon made contact with Earth in 2679, offering to share their teachings to prevent the "calamities to come". Burke, however, saw that the Seraphim's Way was the only path to peace in the Universe, and stayed behind with many of the other colonists to form the Aeon Illuminate. Smith's scientists engineered a virus which quickly infected every member of the venerable race, dooming them to death. The Seraphim, however, were destined to fall. Despite this, the Seraphim were incredibly technologically advanced, and when Smith began a campaign of genocide against the planet's inhabitants, the Earth forces encountered stiff resistance. Smith favoured oppression and subjugation over dialogue with the inhabitants of the planet, although members of the expedition - led by Dr Jane Burke - were able to secretly befriend the Seraphim, and were taught about The Way, the overarching philosophy of love and peace embraced by the aliens. Smith ordered the planet quarantined and communications with Earth cut - so as not to give away the position of humankind's home planet. The expedition was led by Commander Trent Smith, and on Seraphim II contact was made with intelligent alien life. The events at Seraphim II were amongst the most regrettable in the entire expansion of humankind into the dark reaches of space. The same thing happened once again with the second expedition in 2590, but many years were to go by before the Earth Command found out what happened. All that, however, was set to change when a 2557 survey expedition to Seraphim II failed to re-establish contact with Earth. Despite this epic proliferation of humankind, no intelligent life had yet been discovered on other planets. In 2525 another massive expansion began, as more than 110 colonies colonised new planets and systems. Surprisingly large force just to take out the Love Boat, but hey. This enabled order to be maintained across the vast reaches of space with less humans involved, and was seen by games journalists around the world to be very convenient for the RTS genre. In 2316 the colonies began their own colonisation efforts, and with the empire expanding so rapidly, the Earth government found its forces spread too thin, so introduced a system of using military units with limited AI that were controlled by a human commander. By 2284, sixteen colonies had been established in a galaxy not all that far away, and were still governed by the Earth, with law, order and adherence to the various programs enforced by the Earth Command, the military arm of the Earth Empire. And for a while it did - three "alpha" colonies were established, technology was developed and populations expanded. The resulting humans were raised by AI, and as everyone who has ever read a sci-fi novel knows, being an engineered super human that's raised by simulants can only lead to good things. As opposed to the old, energy-heavy forms of transportation, key advancements in AI, nano-technology and biological engineering enabled ships to be sent with "seed populations" aboard - 1000 bio-engineered human DNA patterns, along with nano-fabricators which used material gathered at the destination to create the seed population. Shortly after, Earth was united under a single government, and a huge shift in the methodology of colonising other systems took place. By 2108 humankind had spread beyond the solar system, establishing a colony on a planet in the Alpha Centauri system. From the initial breakthrough in 2018, it took until 2061 for a human to be transported to Neptune's moon Triton using the technology, and all of. What was needed was a revolution in technology, and this came along in the form of Quantum Tunnels. Conventional rocket technology got the species onto the Martian surface by 2010, but the journey was slow, and colonisation difficult. Once upon a time visiting the moon was seen as a lofty goal, both figuratively and literally, but it wasn't long until humans had their sites set on Mars and beyond. There haven't been many African players in history who could match his output and contribution in the Premier League this term, and a strong tournament may see him end Africa's wait for a second Ballon d'Or winner. Star playerįitness permitting, all eyes will be on Salah this summer, and unsurprisingly so. Mohamed Elneny's injury concerns also threaten to deny them a forceful personality and a valuable midfield presence. If the Liverpool man is not there otr, even if he is, gets neutralised by opponents, they can lack a Plan B while, too often, Cuper's conservative approach means that the team can struggle to shift gears. Islam Safwat/NurPhoto via Getty Images Biggest weaknessīeyond Salah, Egypt are limited and you can expect accusations of the Pharaohs being a one-man team to persist throughout the summer. Salah's stellar season should translate to the national team as they hope to spring an upset. If he does make it, there aren't too many players in world football in better form than Salah, whose stock has been transformed since returning to the Premier League with Liverpool this season.Įgypt's group stage opponents are likely to struggle to silence Salah, while his momentum could help the Pharaohs topple a heavyweight or two as the tournament progresses. If that is the case, he will be a doubt to face Uruguay on June 15. One of the biggest questions going into the World Cup will be: Will Mohamed Salah be there? The 26-year-old suffered a shoulder injury playing for Liverpool in the Champions League final and it is estimated he will miss three weeks. It was a nerveless finish by the "Egyptian Messi" that took Egypt to their first World Cup since 1990 and prompted scenes of jubilation across the North African nation. The Liverpool superstar was again the hero in their penultimate group game against Congo, when he stepped up to convert a 94th-minute penalty after Arnold Bouka Moutou had cancelled out his 63rd-minute opener.
